The Reason to Visit Indonesia


Indonesia is one of the most precious countries for you to include in the list of countries that you will visit during your vacation. Indeed in this world none of the perfect 100% country, but the people of Indonesia can arrange to provide services to all visitors as much as can be done for the security, comfort and satisfaction during your vacation in Indonesia. The number of tourists both domestic and foreign countries is always increasing. Foreign tourists in 2007 are about 5.5 million, in 2008 (6.2 million), 2009 (6.4 million). The domestic tourists are more than 200 million people. Foreign tourists in 2014 totaled 9.4 million, an increase of 7.05% from the previous year. Tourism in Indonesia the third largest foreign exchange after oil and palm oil. The number of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia and a number of Indonesian tourists who go abroad is almost the same. In 2012, the number of foreign tourists 8,044,462 people and the number of Indonesian tourists who go abroad more than 8 million people. The reason why tourist visit Indonesia are :


1. Natural Attractions 

Indonesian tourist attractions are especially on nature tourism and cultural tourism. Indonesia has tropical climate and vast territory (land area is 1.922.570 km² and 3,257,483 km² of sea) with 17.504 islands (Government: 2004). The population is the fourth  largest of the world (258 million / 2016). The distance from Sabang ( the most western point) to Merauke (the most eastern point): 8.514 km (land: 5307 km. Sea: 3.206 km). The coastline is the third longest in the world after Canada and the European Union. 

With such a broad area. With a number of islands and a population that so much is not impossible if Indonesia hides thousands of natural beauty and culture that can not be missed to visit. There are thousands of natural and cultural attractions are endless to be enjoyed. There are about 5,590 rivers and 284 large dams. Indonesia has a vast Karsts area: 15.4 million ha (Bappenas 2003), scattered across the country. The oldest is 470 million years old and the youngest 700,000 years. Indonesia has about 149 mountains and 11 ridges that spread from Sabang to Merauke. Indonesia has the most volcanoes in the world (127 mountains). Indonesia's highest peak is Mount Carstensz Pyramid (4884 m). 

Indonesia has the richest reefs in the world, more than 18% of the world's coral reefs, as well as more than 3,000 species of fish, 590 types of coral, 2,500 species of molluscs, and 1,500 species of crustaceans. The wealth of marine life, creating around 600 point dive spread from Sabang to Merauke. 

Indonesia has about 20,000 species of flowering plants (25% of the number of species of flowering plants in the world). 40% of the plants  are endemic of  Indonesia. Bogor Botanical Gardens is located in Bogor. It is the oldest Botanical Gardens in Asia (since the 19th century). It has the most complete collections of tropical plants in the world. Until March 2010, it has 3,397 species common type of collection, 550 species of orchids, as well as 350 non-orchid plants that were in the greenhouse. Mekarsari is a tropical fruit garden. It is the largest and most comprehensive tropical fruit garden in the world.  It has 100,000 fruit trees consisting of 78 families, 400 species and 1,438 varieties

2. The cultural Attractions

There are 1,340 tribes in Indonesia who inhabit around 6000 islands. The tribe so much and stayed in thousands of separate islands for hundreds of years. They passed on a variety of historical heritage and diverse cultures that are still living today. Thousands of temples, traditional houses, looms, hundreds of custom clothing style, hundreds of types of dance, hundreds of folk songs, hundreds of traditional musical instruments, hundreds of traditional recipes,
, 746 regional languages,  hundreds of educational institutions, hundreds  kinds of tools for : hunting, fighting, agriculture and transportation, hundreds of customs regulations and philosophy of life.

3. The grows of Tour Industry

Reliefs of Borobudur (9th century AD) shows that Indonesia has known the world of tourism. It is continue to grow until the colonial era . It is still growing and organized after Indonesia's independence until now. Every year it opened new sights, new hotels, airlines and shipping company new planes and new ships, trains, buses and taxis. The government always improve the technology and the regulatory to make it easier and more convenient so that tourists longer stay in Indonesia. One example is non-visa short stay for some countries from around the world.


4. Availability of adequate Transportation Facilities

Soekarno Hatta Airport in 2015 to number 15 in the world's busiest airport with 64 flights of per hour and 57 million passengers a year serving both domestic and international flights. Indonesia has 683 airports (the tenth  largest in the world). In 2015 in Indonesia there 325.94 million rail passengers were served by 566 stations with 341 locomotives and 4,840 wagons. In 2013 there are 5,536,419 passengers served by 22 544 units Inter-City Inter-Province bus and managed by 926 Bus Companies. January to August 2015 there are 9.7 million passenger ships (BPS), which is served by 28 passenger ships stopping in 91 ports in Indonesia.

5. Availability of adequate Lodging Facilities


Accommodation for tourists such as: a place to stay, food, drinks, laundry and other services organized professionally by: Hotel, Motel, lodging or inn, Rooming house, Bungalow, Cottage, Pension, Home stay, and others. Based on 2008 data, there are 1,169 hotel rooms with 112 079 and 174 321 beds in Indonesia. Seven years later, in 2015 Indonesia had 2,197 five-star hotel, with 217 474 rooms, the  largest in ASEAN. 3 star hotel rate: USD 410 800, 4 star hotel: Rp 833.000, and 5 star hotels: Rp 1,848,000 per night. For a 4 star hotel if it includes the cost of food, laundry and drinks around Rp 1,400,000, - This price is the third Lowest Rate in the world. The first Lowest Price is Bulgaria (about Rp 1,270,000, -). The second Lowest Price is Kiev, Ukraine (about Rp 1,380,000, -)








6. The development of information technology





The development of technology that connects information around the world also make traveled becomes easier. On average 100 people Indonesia has 129 mobile phones in 2015 and the number is predicted to increase to 148 mobile phone users in 2025. Although the number of mobile phone users in Indonesia are actively accessing the internet is still little, this number is predicted to increase. The number of Internet users will also increase in 2025; an average of 18 100 people Indonesia is predicted to increase to 28 100 people. Digital connectivity not only improves the spontaneity to go sightseeing, but also provides a wide selection of more travel. (www.visa.co.id) 2016 Indonesia is the  largest Internet user In the world, to 6 (102.8 million). The first is China (700.1 million), Followed by the United States, India, Brazil, Japan and Indonesia.


7. Cheap Air Tickets






As increasing numbers of airline, flight number and the number of airports have an impact on price competition is increasing as well. It is very beneficial for passengers. Prospective passengers have plenty of choice and certainly look for the most affordable tickets.






Air transportation is now no longer something expensive item. Flight tickets were increasingly affordable. Even to fly overseas was almost all the airlines providing low cost air. As the development of technology and human needs are very practical, competing airline offering cheap tickets. It was also caused by competition between the airline business. Call it AirAsia, Lion Air, Citylink, Sriwijaya, Tiger Airways capture customers with cheap tickets. In addition they also offer a variety of promo tickets even to offer free seats for its customers.






Every major islands in Indonesia has at least one international airport. Largest airport is Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located in Tangerang, Banten. Five other international airports located on the island of Java was Adisumarmo Solo, Juanda in Surabaya, Husein Sastranegara Bandung and Yogyakarta Adisucipto.

8. The increasing business Travel Agency

The number of tavel agency in Indonesia 2014 has reached about 4,000 companies but that number tends to go up and down. Fluctuations in the number of companies it is because there are companies that are able to survive and instead they colap.
